Friendly Planet Missiology is a network of missiologists (Congolese and American) committed to empowering and equipping community leaders--particularly those in the heart of The United Methodist Church's North Katanga Episcopal Area in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Each year we travel as a team by bicycle and boat over 2,000 kilometers into the heart of Katanga, visiting communities that suffered greatly in the recent war. Out of these visits has emerged several initiatives (such as the building of a nursing school) led by our missiologists on the ground. The arrival of a Friendly Planet team serves as a symbol of hope to those who feel abandoned: "Your visit is a consolation to a destroyed and a forgotten community" declared a women in the Katelwa church. |
