CONGO 2009
July 2009 marked the full launch of Friendly Planet Missiology with Bob and Taylor traveling to North Katanga, DR Congo. They journeyed by road from Lubumbashi up to Kamina, meeting with several communities along the way, including the districts of Tenke and Lubudi. In Kamina, they attended the annual gathering of United Methodist church leaders and witnessed the distribution of 300 bicycles and sets of farming equipment provided by the generosity of Hoosier United Methodists.
After the long adventure-filled expedition to Kamina, Taylor continued on to Lusaka, Zambia, where her husband, Stuart, is now the Vice Consul at the U.S. Embassy. Bob continued north to Kabongo and then to the far east of Congo to Kalemie. Stories from the 2009 tour are posted on our Friendly Planet News blog and even more details are on our Facebook page. |
